In just two weeks, our Merchant Sales Director, Jonathan Day, will be attempting to complete the endurance challenge “Everest in the Alps“.
The gruelling event, based in the Swiss Alps, involves approximately 40 hours of ski touring, including up to 20 individual ascents, over four days. Each day, Jonathan and his Excalibur team mates will climb between 2,000m – 2,500m to reach the overall target of 8,848m. The average amount of time out on the snow will be 11 hours a day, and at altitudes of up to 3,500m, each team member is expected to burn through an average of 10,000 calories per day – the equivalent of running three back-to-back marathons!
Jonathan and the Excalibur team are completing this challenge to raise vital funds for Dementia UK, The Brain Tumour Charity, Coach Core and MND Association. These charities are very close to the team and the event. Jonathan’s mother was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at just 57 years of age, which had a devastating and profound effect on her and everyone who loved, knew or helped support her.
The team understands this is a difficult time for many; however, if you can offer support, please use the link below to visit the team’s JustGiving page. The team is incurring all the event costs, enabling 100% of the funds raised to go to the team’s selected Charities.

We wish Jonathan and everyone on Team Excalibur the best of luck! And thank you in advance for any support you can give.
