Exchanging Places in Northwood

Day Aggregates recently took one of their trucks along to the Holy Trinity School in Northwood for an ‘Exchanging Places’ event.

The event provided all of the children with the chance to sit in the driver’s seat of a Heavy Goods Vehicle. They were then able to experience first hand the various ‘blind spots’ and danger areas around a truck.

They were shown the various sensors, alerts and cameras that are fitted to the modern truck. They also got to grips with the six mirrors that each driver is expected to monitor (all at once!)

We are always hopeful that our participation in these events helps the children to understand the risks associated with being around large vehicles – especially when they are cycling or walking to school.

We’d like to give a special thanks to Ian McGregor and Derek Jennings for organising the event and being on hand to talk to the children throughout the day.
