Material Donated to Charity Project at Jane Austen’s House

We recently had the pleasure of donating 20 tonnes of Cotswold Buff Chippings to a charity project at Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, Hampshire.

The house and its picturesque grounds are where Jane Austen wrote and published all six of her novels, including the treasured Pride and Prejudice. Over the past 150 years, the house, which is now a public museum, has welcomed more than one million tourists from across the world.

The M3 Junctions 9 to 14 Project Team at Balfour Beatty worked over a four-day period to lay the material on the footpaths and in the storage and seating areas, which hopefully will be appreciated by the many people who visit. In turn, these visitors will help generate much needed funding for the continued upkeep and ongoing operating costs of this historic site.

We are delighted that we had the opportunity to collaborate with Balfour Beatty on this project, and we think the team did a fantastic job – well done!
