Sussex Steel
Sussex Steel is a CIO (charitable incorporated organisation) created by individuals who are passionate about Steel Pan music.
As an organisation, Sussex Steel is committed to increasing music opportunities for people in Sussex and beyond, while also continuing to engage people in the art of steel pan. This includes them teaching steel pan classes and workshops in several schools within the Sussex area.
Day Aggregates has supported the charity for some time now; providing a truck for the band’s busy summer schedule of carnivals and performances.
At events, the band plays the steel pan while on the back of a moving truck – something which requires a great deal of practice and skill to stay in tune!
The Sussex Steel group now boasts more than 60 performers across five different bands. They have played at a number of popular events including Brighton Pride and The Amex Stadium, to name a few.
